It was not until we had children (three under three) and began experiencing difficulties with getting to and staying asleep, that I realised how badly it can go wrong when the quality and quantity of sleep is compromised. Our struggles to sleep, and get our children sleeping through the night, led me on a path of discovery, and Natural Sleep Shop was born, after much frustration with endless searching for natural solutions, early in 2011.
As a reformed insomniac, I am amazed what a positive impact sleeping well has had on my mental and physical health, and hence my whole family's well being. My quest for better sleep is an ongoing journey for me and hopefully one day our business will break even!
If you think for a moment that we sleep for approximately a third of our lives, and will seriously affect the quality of the remaining two thirds if we suffer sleep deprivation, it's an area that's worth getting right! We have been dismayed to realise that in the rush that is life's pace today, more and more desperate people are resorting to addictive, destructive habits in attempts to 'cure their insomnia'. Caffeine laden drinks, sleeping tablets, alcohol etc, may work well in the short term to achieve what you need out of a 24 hour period, but their long term use when you are not sleeping, is not sustainable, and will lead to serious health problems in the long run.
We try to focus on getting some basics right (body temperature, moisture management, routine, light (and dark), achieving a better balance, and adopting healthier lifestyle choices etc. It works! My aim is to present a collection of options to help you find the best natural solution for your sleep issues.
